Danielle is focused on building the capacity of youth serving professionals—from executives to the front line and students—to better lead statewide efforts to improve the safety, education, health, and wellbeing of all children and youth.
Prior to joining IYI, Danielle served as Associate Professor of Education, Director of Teacher Education, and Chair of the School of Social Sciences and Education at North Carolina Wesleyan College in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.
Her areas of expertise include program and assessment design, educational technology, culturally responsive pedagogy, and curriculum development for adult learners. She was awarded the Holderness Professorship in Public Education in 2016 and in 2018.
Danielle holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and Secondary Education from Howard Payne University, and Master of Arts in English Literature from Baylor University, and the Doctor of Education degree from Appalachian State University. Danielle, her husband and their two daughters enjoy hiking, kayaking and exploring new places.
