Brent assist IYI’s President and CEO in setting strategic direction, managing projects and initiatives and leading staff collaboration and support. He also supports human resources, marketing and communications.
Prior to starting at IYI, he served as Unified Student Supports Officer for Indianapolis Public Schools and contributed to significant graduation rate increases. Brent has worked in non-profit as a youth program director, and in public education where he served as a JAG specialist, special education teacher, school leader, and central services administrator. Highlights include opening a successful charter school in the Meadows neighborhood of Indianapolis, where 3 of his students were featured in an award-winning documentary entitled Night School.
IYI is a natural fit as he cares deeply about healthy youth development, including social justice, racial equity and giving voice to the voiceless. Brent holds a Bachelor of Arts from Taylor University and earned his Master of Arts in Teaching and Building Level Administrator licensure from Marian University.
Brent also volunteers at his church and loves biking Indy and hiking Indiana’s State Parks with his wife & their 4 kids.
