Families come in all shapes and sizes, including having varying strengths and challenges. According to the Indiana KIDS COUNT® Data Book, when parents are actively engaged in their children’s lives, children are likely to have better academic performance, attendance, graduation rates, attitudes, behaviors and overall well-being. Research shows that protective parenting improves family relationships and decreases the level of family conflict, contributing to lower levels of substance abuse.
This panel discussion will explore various aspects of parent and family engagement from the perspectives of professionals in various service-provider settings. Attendees will:
