According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, approximately 1 in 5 youth aged 13-18 (21.4%) experiences a severe mental disorder at some point during their life. For children aged 8-15, the estimate is 13%. Law enforcement is often called to assist with mental health crises in schools, the community and in homes of youth.

The Crisis Intervention Team of Boone County is a group of community stakeholders that provide the necessary foundation to promote community and statewide solutions to assist individuals with mental health and/or addiction challenges.
