Key responsibilities

The Chief of Staff will assist IYI’s President and CEO in setting strategic direction, managing projects and initiatives, and leading staff collaboration and support—including project management, leadership of strategic initiatives, research, and communicating with internal and external stakeholders. The Chief of Staff will oversee the preparation for initiatives, have excellent research and writing skills, and the ability to handle multiple priorities in coordination with senior and cross-functional team leaders. The position is responsible for ensuring key priorities are managed and executed.

Our Chief of Staff will plan, organize, and run monthly leadership meetings, taking detailed discussion notes, documenting decisions, and following up on action items in a timely manner. This position will oversee the creation of detailed monthly business analysis reports, summarize performance, and extract insights and implications for the CEO and her executive team. This role will assess inquiries directed to the CEO, determine the proper course of action, and delegate to the appropriate individual to manage.

The Chief of Staff will be responsible for the development and execution of practices, policies, and internal operating systems aimed at improving effectiveness and efficiency. This position will oversee Human Resource functions, anticipating staffing needs and potential issues. This position will work with relevant leaders to ensure all staff issues are addressed properly, efficiently, and judiciously, and keep track of progress until issues are resolved.

The Chief of Staff must be able to build trust with executives and internal and external stakeholders of all levels. The ideal candidate has strong written communication skills along with an ability to distill, analyze, and convey information in a compelling manner. This leader has a strong work ethic, disciplined execution skills, and an ability to consistently and relentlessly deliver results. The Chief of Staff can serve as a good sounding board for others with low ego and a strong ability to anticipate the needs of the CEO and her direct staff. This is a hands-on, roll-up-your sleeves position that also requires immense diplomacy skills.


Master’s degree in Nonprofit Administration or related field; 5+ years’ executive level experience; impeccable managerial and interpersonal skills; proven track record of effectively interacting with senior management; ability to work strategically and collaboratively across departments; effective, versatile, and action-oriented; excellent communication skills.


This position reports to the President and Chief Executive Officer and oversees three additional executive office professionals.

Compensation and benefits

This is a full time, exempt position with a strong benefits package. Salary is competitive and commensurate with level of experience.
