Youth who identify as LGBTQI are more likely to be marginalized and at risk for homelessness, running away, and becoming victims of violence and exploitation. This workshop will present a culturally comprehensive approach to understanding the needs of this youth subpopulation and strategies for creating positive relationships and environments that allow them to thrive.
Youth-serving professionals and other adults have a unique opportunity to help alleviate these disparities by creating safe, affirming environments for all youth.
Join us for this experience as we learn and:
- Recognize specific vulnerabilities of LGBTQ+ persons
- Recognize challenges faced in providing services and treatment, and acknowledging personal biases
- Create a safe space for LGBTQ+ persons and strengthen relationships with the community and existing resources
