About This Event

Youth who identify as LGBTQI are more likely to be marginalized and at risk for homelessness, running away, and becoming victims of violence and exploitation. This workshop will present a culturally comprehensive approach to understanding the needs of this youth subpopulation and strategies for creating positive relationships and environments that allow them to thrive.

Youth-serving professionals and other adults have a unique opportunity to help alleviate these disparities by creating safe, affirming environments for all youth.

Join us for this experience as we learn and:

  • Recognize specific vulnerabilities of LGBTQ+ persons
  • Recognize challenges faced in providing services and treatment, and acknowledging personal biases
  • Create a safe space for LGBTQ+ persons and strengthen relationships with the community and existing resources
