About This Event

I Am Moving, I Am Learning (IMIL) is a proactive approach for addressing childhood obesity in Head Start children. IMIL seeks to increase daily physical activity, improve the quality of movement activities intentionally planned and facilitated by adults, and promote healthy food choices every day.

IMIL is an approach that reinforces the importance of the mind-body connection and the relationship between physical fitness and early learning. This session on “Moving with the Brain in Mind” will help you:

  • recognize important information about early brain structure, brain functioning, and the meaning of the phrase “the body trains the brain;
  • describe the important role of early learning programs to stimulate brain development in preschool-aged children; and
  • experience early learning activities that “cross the midline” and support skill development in all areas of early learning.
