Statewide Forum To Promote Cultural Competence In Education
July 18, 2008


Indiana Black Expo will host, “Transitioning from Awareness to Acceptance and Affirmation,” a statewide forum promoting cultural competence in education.

 

The event, which will be held in Indianapolis, features nationally recognized keynote speaker Ruby Payne, author of “A Framework for Understanding Poverty.”  The symposium also features Jawanza Kunjufu, who offers “An African Centered Response to Ruby Payne’s Poverty Theory.”

 

The daylong conference is aimed at improving teaching and learning by developing a deeper understanding of cultural competency.

"Tuesday's at PLC" series every second Tuesday of the month (Sept-May) from 8:00-9:30. These sessions are a great networking and learning resource for those interested in cultivating healthy organizational practices within the workplace and community.
