Through our Kids Count in Indiana program, we can get you accurate and updated facts and figures
for such things as program planning, grant proposals, policy decisions, advocacy, and community needs
assessments. We work with information providers from various government agencies, associations,
and institutions to find the most reliable data possible on selected indicators.
The Indiana Youth Institute’s Kids Count in Indiana program is one of 50 state initiatives in the national
KIDS COUNT network supported by the Annie E. Casey Foundation of Baltimore, Maryland. These
initiatives seek to bring together the best available data to provide policymakers and citizens with
benchmarks for assessing the status of children and their families. Reliable data also are useful to
community-based youth agencies for program planning, evaluation, fund development and media campaigns.
KIDS COUNT seeks to enrich local, state, and national discussions concerning ways to secure better futures
for all children.
Search for state, county and school district-level data in IYI’s Kids Count in Indiana database, now housed
on the Annie E. Casey CLIKS site. IYI posts new data collected from state and local government agencies
and other organizations, so that you can be assured of updated facts. Data are posted only after statistics
from all Indiana counties are in, so that accurate comparisons can be made.

Custom Data Research
Still can’t find the data you need?
If you can’t find the data you need in our Kids Count in Indiana database, IYI has a data research
service for Indiana youth workers that is free for most projects. Because of our work with the data
book, we have built relationships with government agency sources who can help us track down
information that is often hard to find.
IYI can answer data-related questions and provide custom research, usually within 3 working days
and often faster. Recent requests have included…
- Statistics on shaken baby syndrome
- Child obesity
- Teen pregnancies and births
- Cost of juvenile delinquency
- ISTEP+ scores
- Neighborhood poverty rates
- Incidence of substance abuse
Most projects are free. However, large projects requiring more than eight hours will be charged a small fee.
For more information on large research project fees, please contact our project manager-data.
