Hoosier Civic Groups can enlist an army of mentors and supporters throughout the state …

— Become an advocate for mentoring
— Become a resource for mentoring programs
— Become an long-term investor in a signature mentoring program

Although very different, civic groups become involved with mentoring on one or more of these levels.

Civic Groups Can Advance Mentoring By:

Becoming a Mentoring Advocate
  • Get to know the mentoring initiatives in your service area(s)
  • Use your club’s voice to become a local champion and advocate of mentoring
  • Identify a high quality mentoring program as one of your club’s signature projects and
recommended site for member and partner involvement
Becoming a Resource for Mentoring Programs:
  • Serve as a program partner to your signature mentoring program by offering in-kind club resources that meet their programming needs such as opportunities to connect with your members as community role models, providing direct resources to mentors/ mentees or donating requested “wish list” items for the organization
  • Become a program/ event sponsor by providing financial support that underwrites a specific event or programming cost.
Becoming a Long-term Investor in a Signature Mentoring Program
  • Cultivate and support your members as a pool of mentors for your mentoring project
  • Offer multi-year financial support to your signature project that funds the operational costs of providing high quality, long-term mentoring relationships

How Do Civic Groups Maximize Their Return on the Mentoring Investment…
The most essential requirements for generating HIGH IMPACT from your club investment in mentoring are:

  • Small, but effective start, that evolves and expands over tim
  • Strong commitment by your Club President and additional key leaders
  • Identify a “Signature” Mentoring Project, which you have researched and found to have the
greatest capacity to provide high quality mentoring
  • Dedicate a key leader and committee to driving and managing your mentoring partnership
  • Provide leveled options for a range of ways that members can support mentoring, with varying
levels of commitment and skills required
