Family Friendly Workplace Awards

The Family Friendly Workplace Awards honor five Indiana employers each spring 
for having outstanding policies and practices that support family and parent involvement and promote 
a work-life balance.  

The five winners are selected from among the Indiana Chamber of Commerce'sBest Places to Work” 
honorees using researched criteria on policies that work best for the employee’s family and the employer.  
IYI and 
the Chamber launched the Family Friendly Workplace Awards in 2006 to call attention to these 
“best practice” workplace policies and procedures.

Research suggests that employment practices increasingly prevent workers from participating fully in their families’ lives.  Work hours for many employees are climbing 
and jobs have become more hectic and demanding.  According to the Families and Work Institute, 67 percent of employees feel they don’t have enough time for their children.

Family-friendly policies promote the healthy development of children and youth by allowing employees to be more engaged in the lives of their children.  At the same time, these policies build positive relationships between workers and their employers, boosting morale and employee loyalty.

How to Apply
To apply for the Family Friendly Workplace Award, applicants must first apply for the “Best Places to Work” award from the Indiana Chamber of Commerce.
