Glenn Augustine, Vice President of Communications

Glenn is responsible for producing the Kids Count statewide radio program and day-to-day marketing and communications for IYI and its programs.

Prior to joining IYI in December 2006, Glenn served for five years as the senior director of university communications at Ball State University and spent 13 years in television news. He won several awards for his reporting during stops in St. Louis, Terre Haute, Indiana, Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Indianapolis.

Glenn is a 1988 graduate of Indiana University with a degree in journalism. Glenn and his wife, Stacey, live in Indianapolis with their four children. In his spare time, Glenn loves to spend time with his family, travel, play golf, read, and root for his favorite sports teams—the St. Louis Cardinals, St. Louis Blues, and Indiana University men’s basketball and football.

 

Nicole Brock, Program Associate

Nicole Brock came to IYI in July 2006. As the program associate, she manages a diverse set of responsibilities including, supporting the program department, processing training registrations and Professional Development Grant applications, and assisting with library requests. Nicole is a recent AmeriCorps alumnus, with experience in direct youth service, as well as behind-the-scenes nonprofit management. Most recently, she served as an AmeriCorps*VISTA at College Mentors for Kids, Inc., in Indianapolis, coordinating special events and streamlining volunteer engagement efforts. She also spent a year as a team leader with City Year San Antonio, tutoring children and running after-school programs in two elementary schools.

An Iowa native, Nicole earned her bachelor’s degree in political science and Spanish from Coe College. In her spare time, she continues to volunteer with College Mentors for Kids, and enjoys Indy’s cultural scene as a volunteer usher with the Wellington Theatre Arts Group and an event manager with the Indianapolis Civic Theatre.

 

Michele Colson, Project Director, College and Career Counseling

Joining IYI in August of 2009, Michele directs the College and Career Counseling initiatives which provide middle and high school students, and their parents, with the information, resources and guidance they need to plan for and fund their higher education goals. Michele comes to IYI with over 21 years experience in the higher education at USA Funds and Sallie Mae, primarily focused on financial literacy, debt management and college access issues and program development. As an accomplished public speaker and business leader, she brings extensive consulting, business strategy and educational development experience to IYI.

Michele earned a Bachelor's Degree in business and organizational leadership from Indiana Wesleyan University and a Master’s Degree in Adult Education from Indiana University. She resides in Brownsburg with her husband and has one son.


Elizabeth Crist Darby, Project Manager - Conferences and Trainings

Elizabeth Crist Darby joined IYI in December of 2006. She manages the Kids Count in Indiana Conference and other training services, oversees event planning for audio conferences, and administers the Indiana Youth Investment Awards and the Family Friendly Business Awards programs.

Before joining IYI, Elizabeth worked for the state government, most recently analyzing policies and procedures that affect front-line child protection workers. Prior to that, she ran the annual Governor’s Conference on Aging and supervised the work of county-based Step Ahead Councils. Elizabeth relocated to Indianapolis in 2002, where she now resides with her husband, Andrew. Prior to moving to Indiana, Elizabeth lived and worked in Janesville, Wisconsin, where she directed an employment retention program. She has a broad range of social services experience including program development, marketing and communications, legislation and policy analysis, and strategic planning. Elizabeth earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Knox College and is a former Congressional Intern. Elizabeth is also a member of the National Afterschool Association.

 

Jennifer Davee - Senior Accountant

Jennifer (Jen) Davee joined IYI in September 2008. She prepares and analyzes monthly financial statements and works with senior management to develop IYI’s biannual budget. In addition, Jennifer works with the fund development staff to develop budgets for grant proposals and reports.

Before joining IYI, Jennifer worked for Deloitte & Touche LLP, an international CPA firm, primarily as an audit manager. Prior to that, she worked for the national headquarters of Sigma Kappa Sorority as the director of finance. Jennifer is a native Hoosier; she attended Butler University in Indianapolis and received a Bachelor of Science in accounting in 1998. She now resides in Danville, Indiana with her husband, daughter, two cats and a dog. Jennifer is also a Certified Public Accountant licensed to practice in the state of Indiana.

 

Dianne Elliott , Fund Development and Marketing Associate

Dianne is responsible for grantwriting and other fundraising activities to help support IYI’s free and low cost programs.
She is a development professional who has 20 years of experience and a proven track record of working with nonprofit organizations. Elliott came to the Indiana Youth Institute after working for the Norfolk Collegiate School, the Downtown Norfolk Council, the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce and the Indiana Chamber of Commerce. Among her duties for those organizations were the development and execution of revenue generating programs and events, performing many public relations and marketing tasks, managing the alumni annual fund program, writing grants and communication responsibilities.

A graduate of Indiana University, she majored in management/policy administration and minored in business and economics. Dianne and her husband, Kevin, a commercial photographer, and their son, Jake, returned to her home state of Indiana after residing in Norfolk, Virginia for 16 years. 

 

Marta Fetterman, Project Manager - Consulting

Marta joined the IYI staff in April 2004. She is responsible for IYI’s subsidized consulting and Youth Service Helpline. Marta joined IYI after a 14-year career with the YMCA where she served in both Indianapolis and Michigan. She has extensive training experience and expertise in youth-related programs and development. Because of her program management and evaluation background, Marta is very receptive to the needs of youth-serving organizations.

Marta is a graduate of Anderson University with a BA in Business Management and Marketing. She spends her time supporting various school and church groups, cooking, and reading. She resides in Brownsburg with her husband Jim.  Daughter Brittany and son Zach are attending college.

 

Nancy Flanigan, Customer Service/ Webmaster

Nancy Flanigan joined IYI in January of 2006 in the position of Customer Service/ Webmaster. Nancy provides customer service, manages the updates for the IYI web site, and also does a variety of office administrative duties. In a galaxy far away, Nancy was a sculptor of original production and prototype models for major toy manufacturers and collectible companies. After obtaining a BFA from the University of Cincinnati, she joined the sculpting staff of Kenner Toys, and later, continued sculpting on a freelance basis.

Switching careers, Nancy completed her Associate Degree in Multimedia Design from Ivy Tech Sate College in Indianapolis in 2001. Since then, she has been building her design skills as a freelance web site designer and her administrative skills in part-time positions as an executive assistant.

 

Stephen Gill, Northwest Indiana Field Representative

Stephen joined the Indiana Youth Institute in August 2008 as the Northwest Field Representative. Stephen’s mission is to promote the healthy development of children and youth by serving the institutions and people of Northwest Indiana who work on their behalf. He plays a key role in connecting youth workers in this region with capacity-building resources and with community efforts to support youth.

Prior to becoming a member of team IYI, Stephen worked as a motivational life skills presenter for Vision to Fulfillment, an organization that conducts empowering workshops for students within middle schools and high schools. He also worked as a part-time Academic Coach at John Adams High School in South Bend, Indiana for a nonprofit called Play It Smart. Stephen worked primarily with student-athletes helping them take responsibility for their lives through lessons learned on the playing fields, in the classroom and in service to others.

Stephen resides in Michigan City with his wife, Sabrina, and their three children, Simone, Summer & Stephen.

 

Juanita Mejia-Goodwell, Northeastern Indiana Field Staff

Juanita joined IYI in February of 2002 and is the organization's Field Representative in Northeastern Indiana. Previously, she spent nine years with the Twenty-First Century Scholars Program in Fort Wayne where she coordinated that region's site. Prior to that, she worked as an administrator with such Fort Wayne youth agencies as the YWCA and Whitington Homes, Inc. As IYI's Northeastern Indiana field representative, Juanita's primary role is to build relationships with IYI's current and potential constituents in the region and connect them with resources and other community efforts to support youth.  Juanita completed her bachelor degree in criminal justice from Indiana University Purdue University in Fort Wayne. She resides in Fort Wayne with her husband David Goodwell and two step-sons, Justice and Dion.

 

Lisa Habegger, Director - Library Services

Lisa, who joined the IYI staff in August 2004, is responsible for managing the Virginia Beall Ball Library. Prior to joining IYI, Lisa was an Adult Services Librarian at Brownsburg Public Library, where she was in charge of the library's teen council, helped to develop the young adult and adult collections, and organized programs for all ages. While living in Colorado, Lisa worked as a patron services and catalog librarian for Jefferson County Public Libraries, as a managing director for a nonprofit arts organization, and as a gallery director.

Lisa is a graduate of Indiana University with a BA in Fine Arts, and she holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in painting from the University of Colorado. In 2003, she received her Master of Library Science degree from Indiana University in Indianapolis. In her spare time, she creates paintings and drawings, and has exhibited her artwork locally and in Colorado. She resides on the west side of Indianapolis with her husband Dean (also an artist), their daughters, Annabella and Bethany, and the family dog, Bernie.

 

Ed Hoy, Vice President of Business and Information Systems

Ed joined IYI in November, 1997 as Director of Information Systems. He assumed responsibility for IYI's business operations in February, 1999. Ed has a strong background in integrating information systems into business operations. He has leveraged technology investments to streamline IYI's business processes and increase the accessibility of IYI's products and services. Ed also serves as a technical advisor to the National Youth Development Information Center's web-based information clearinghouse.

Previously, Ed worked for the Indiana Department of Commerce as Deputy Director for Energy Policy. He was responsible for program operations, outsourcing program evaluation services, and grants management. Ed designed and implemented the Industrial Energy Efficiency Fund, a loan program for businesses investing in cutting edge manufacturing technologies. He served as a member of the Energy Information Administration Advisory Council and the U.S. Department of Energy Program Evaluation Task Force. Ed also received special recognition from the Secretary of Energy for his work with the Office of Energy Emergencies.

A lifelong resident of Indiana, Ed attended Indiana University. He resides in Greenwood with his wife Lee Ann, and daughters Elyse, and Emily.

 

Emily Krauser, Project Manager - Data

Emily joined the staff of IYI as a Project Manager in data in 2008. As part of the data team, she primarily manages Custom Data Request Services and Issue Briefs.

She has a history of serving youth in Indianapolis that includes working as a graduate assistant with the IUPUI chapter of American Humanics, as a youth supervisor at the Stopover program of the Boner Community Center, and as the administrator for the Philharmonic Orchestra of Indianapolis’ Strings and Jazzy Things summer music camp.

Emily earned her Master’s degree in Philanthropic Studies from the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University in 2008 where she studied and researched nonprofit giving trends in the U.S. She is also a proud alumna of Ball State University with a degree in Psychology.

  

Lori Kretz, Project Manager - College and Career Counseling Initiative

Lori’s role at IYI is to promote, manage and develop the Drive of Your Life and Trip to College Web for schools and other youth programs throughout the state.

Lori received her BA from Ball State in elementary education with a focus on kindergarten.  Her Masters degree, also from Ball State, focused on computer education and was obtained with a fellowship in the education department during The Learning Center’s pilot year.  Before joining IYI, Lori taught in public school for ten years and also worked as the Operations Manager for The Possibility Network at Indiana Wesleyan University.

Lori is a lifelong resident of Delaware County with one daughter and three pets.

 

  

Karin Mills, CFRE, Vice President of Fund Development and Marketing

Karin joined IYI in April 1999, bringing the agency strong fund raising, marketing, and public relations skills and a background in the corporate and nonprofit arenas. She was formerly Director of Development & Public Relations at Girls Incorporated of Indianapolis. In her two years there, she increased revenues substantially from corporate, foundation and government grants, special events, direct mail, and major gifts. Her experience with this Indiana youth service organization provides a practical perspective that will help IYI become more responsive to the needs of youth-serving nonprofits.

A graduate of Northwestern University, Karin began her career in public relations, working for major national advertising agencies in New York City and eventually becoming Director of Public Relations for Seventeen Magazine. Since then, she has provided marketing, fund raising, and executive leadership for a variety of nonprofit organizations serving education, children, health care, and the arts. In her position at IYI, Karin is a member of the institute's senior leadership team, and is responsible for fund development and marketing for the agency.

 

Lisa Morphew, Executive Coordinator

Lisa joined the IYI staff in May, 2008.  She is responsible for coordinating appointments for the President & CEO.  Prior to joining IYI, Lisa was the Executive Assistant to the President of the Indiana Manufacturers Association and most recently had been part of the Admission Staff at DePauw University.  Lisa is married and has three children.  In her spare time she enjoys writing and performing music and is a very active member in her church. 

 

Sarah Patterson, Project Manager - Data

Sarah joined IYI in August 2008. She works as a part of the data management team, with primary responsibility for the Kids Count in Indiana Data Book, as well as handling data requests and other data management projects.

Sarah has held positions at a variety of social organizations, including the GED and employment skills instructor at Craine House, an alternative sentencing program for female offenders, and research specialist at the Indianapolis Richard Roudebush Veterans Hospital. Sarah has always had an interest in youth-serving organizations. During her four years of undergraduate studies, she served as a public library tutor for a K-6 homework help center.

Sarah completed her master’s in sociology at IUPUI and received her bachelor’s degree in sociology and psychology from Indiana University in Bloomington.

 

Linda Plummer, Bookkeeper

Linda joined the Indiana Youth Institute in 1987. In her role as bookkeeper she maintains the organization's day-to-day business operations, which includes accounts payable and accounts receivable. Linda's customer-service approach, record keeping and strong organizational skills do much to support the statewide efforts of the program staff at IYI.

 

Michelle Sanchez, Southeast Indiana Field Representative

Michelle’s primary role is to build relationships with IYI’s current and potential constituents in the southern Indiana region and connect them with resources and other community efforts to support youth. Prior to joining IYI’s team in January of 2010, she spent two years as a job developer with Arbor Education and Training, serving many of the same counties she currently serves for IYI.

A graduate of Purdue University, Michelle is a Madison native and has worked for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Jefferson County. She has also coached volleyball at the middle school level and continues to officiate volleyball at all levels. Michelle has tutored students in the AVID (Advancement Via Independent Determination) program at Madison Consolidated High School and spent time as part of the adjunct faculty for Ivy Tech State College, teaching basic math and algebra, as well as a course in developing college and life success skills. For several years, Michelle served as a business development specialist for the Small Business Development Center of Indiana in Madison. She has a huge heart for the unique needs of youth within our state as a result of her experience with youth from various demographics.

 

 

Joe Shrode, Southwest Indiana Field Representative

Before joining IYI, Joe worked for the Evansville Youth Service Bureau as Director of After School Programs for an eight-county area. Prior to that, he worked for Youth First, Inc., an Evansville-based youth substance abuse prevention agency. He has directed and facilitated a variety of programs designed to build life skills and provide positive adult role models and safe haven for youth. Joe is active in many agencies and coalitions in southwest Indiana.

Joe spent nearly 20 years in marketing communications before entering the youth serving field. While in this role he learned the importance of assessing needs and objectives, providing appropriate services, outcome evaluation, networking, public relations, and many other services that are vital to non-profit agencies as well.

Joe's objective is to support youth-serving non-profit agencies by bringing awareness of IYI's services to southwest Indiana. Joe lives in Evansville with his wife, Cathy, who is a special education teacher and their son, Sam.

 

Jaime Theresa Smith, Project Manager - Business & Information Technology

Joining IYI in the summer of 2001 as a TechWizard intern, Jaime stepped in for nearly a year as IYI's Business Associate in addition to her technology projects. She is now IYI's full-time Business Administrator and is responsible for maintaining efficient and effective vendor relations, assisting the Director of Business and MIS in facilities' operations/office management, and human resources, while still providing break/fix support on workstations in a network environment.

In May of 2002, Jaime graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Indianapolis with a major in Theatre and a minor in Information Systems. In her spare time, Jaime likes to travel and performs in local theatre, and portrayed Lady Montague in Rough Magic's production of Romeo and Juliet. She also recently worked behind the scenes as Assistant Director, Assistant Stage Manager, and Props Master for Buck Creek Theatre' production of How I Learned to Drive.

 

Bill Stanczykiewicz, President & CEO

Bill Stanczykiewicz draws on his nationally-recognized leadership skills in the business, government and nonprofit sectors to deliver an inspiring, motivational and informative presentation.

His 10-year sportscasting career culminated in Bill receiving the “Indiana Sportscaster of the Year” award. Serving on staff in the U.S. Senate and on the Mayor’s cabinet in one of America’s largest cities, Bill garnered national attention from the President of the United States, Harvard University and the U.S. League of Cities for his government service. And as President and CEO of the Indiana Youth Institute, Bill has developed expertise in youth development, education and workforce issues that impact today’s families, communities and the marketplace.

Under Bill’s leadership, the Indiana Youth Institute has earned awards for management effectiveness and efficiency. His personal honors have included a national leadership fellowship from the Rockefeller Foundation, being named a “Distinguished Hoosier” by Indiana Governor Frank O’Bannon and receiving the Chairman’s Award from the NCAA.

Bill advises the development of statewide policies and strategies for education, workforce and economic development as a member of Indiana’s Education Roundtable and the State Workforce Innovation Council.

Previous speaking opportunities range from small towns in Indiana to national events in Washington, D.C., and Bill’s media appearances have included ABC’s Good Morning America, ESPN and PBS.

Bill earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Northwestern University and a master’s degree in public administration from George Mason University, where he was named “Most Outstanding Student” of his graduating class. Bill enjoys dating his wife, Carmen, and going fishing or playing little league baseball and softball with their four children.

 

   

December Warren, Project Director - The Indiana Mentoring Partnership

Prior to joining IYI, December was the Executive Director at the Koch Family Children’s Museum of Evansville (cMoe) where she defined and led the creation, development and establishment of the nationally respected educational institution. She gained extensive experience in project development, fund development and non-profit management. Prior to returning to Indiana, December served as the Director of International Trade for the Birmingham Regional Chamber of Commerce where she worked with international companies and locally owned Hispanic businesses. Since the inception of the Indiana Mentoring Partnership, December has been instrumental in developing the vision and strategic plan of the project as well as establishing a supportive network of nonprofit, business and government partnerships.

December is a graduate of Samford University with a BA in Spanish and the University of Montevallo with a Masters in Education. 

 

Roxane Williams, Program Associate

Roxane joined the IYI staff in March 2008. She is responsible for maintaining the IYI mailing list, tracking program usage, and supporting the program staff. She has an Associate’s Degree in Information Technology from Southwest Tennessee Community College and a background in data processing and accounting. Prior to moving to Indiana, she worked as a data analysis at Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN. Roxane is an Arkansas native. She lived in Tennessee for 18 years before relocating to Indiana two years ago. She now resides in Indianapolis with her husband and daughter.

 

Stephanie Yoder, Vice President of Statewide Outreach

Stephanie joined IYI in June 2008. As Vice President of Statewide Outreach, she supervises the agency’s five field representatives and the technical assistance and connection they provide to local youth-serving organizations. She also directs the federally-funded Indiana Responsible Fatherhood Initiative, which supports five community coalitions that help improve father involvement with their children. For more than 13 years, Stephanie worked in the public child welfare system, first as a family case manager working directly with children and families, then in policy and program development. She later led the Marion County child welfare office. Prior to joining IYI, Stephanie led the field management team for the Indiana Department of Child Services for three years. In this role, Stephanie hired and led 18 regional managers and three executive managers in implementing system wide reform to fundamentally change practice at the local level and to improve outcomes for children and families in Indiana. Stephanie holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and Sociology and a Master’s degree in Social Work, both from Indiana University. Stephanie and her husband, Ed, live in Mooresville with their five children.
